Congratulations on the arrival of the Holy Month of Ramadhan whose blessed days and spiritually uplifting nights.
For all Muslims around the world this is an auspicious time yet, particularly this year, so many will have no secure source of income nor a reliable source of food with which to break their fast. For many, whilst taking precaution against the spread of Covid the closest source of clean water could be several kilometers away. How can they then protect themselves against the Bacteria?
LFT Support Countries
THIS RAMADHAN GIVE SOMEONE THE GIFT OF IFTAAR WITH A CLEAN SUPPLY OF WATER
This year, the horn of Africa has been particularly susceptible to food shortages as a large locust infestation destroyed vast swathes of crops. Farmers are recovering from this catastrophe & the Lady Fatemah Trust will be providing support for up to 5,000 individuals in the Oromia Bale zone of Ginnir district that is in the grip ofa drought.
The family food parcels contain 25 kilograms of wheat flour and 6 litres of oil per typical family unit of six. In these rural areas the family will combine these supplies with maize & other vegetables that they grow themselves and some meat from goats they tend.
THIS RAMADHAN GIVE SOMEONE THE GIFT OF IFTAAR WITH AN EDUCATION THEY DESERVE
Imagine the plight of the mother of a deaf child in Gaza where there are regular electricity blackouts. She needs to feed her family on incredibly meagre means and without the ability to access cooking gas. The 402 families supported have complex needs and high vulnerability, raising a child who is either deaf or with a long-term & often debilitating illness such as a kidney disfunction.
With vulnerable children and no means to cook, families are provided meals of cooked chicken and rice throughout the month. These are often the only nutritious meals the families will have in the entire month of Ramadhan. The nutritional intake for the mother and her family has
been carefully assessed.

Generous donors are supporting the education of several hundred children in India from nursery school to university undergraduates by paying their school fees. This makes them better equipped to lift themselves and their families from the grip of extreme poverty. Education is a key focus in all the regions in which the LFT operates but none more so than India where opportunities for graduates in a large emerging an dtechnically advancing economy is really high.
